Jewelweed, also known as touch me not, is a plant that grows wild in
Missouri
. It is an annual that comes back every year from seed. The small seed pods, when touched, actually burst open, throwing the seed for quite a distance. This plant has been used successfully for years to help clear up poison ivy. I have been carrying the extract and making a soap with the extract for quite some time. Unfortunately, my supplier recently retired. I had a growing demand from customers who had tried it and found it worked very well. So I began extracting my own. We do once again have a plentiful supply, so no need to worry. It is a little more concentrated than the extract I was getting, which is a good thing, and I was able to lower the price a little, another good thing. Jewelweed should never be taken internally. The area of rash is washed with the jewelweed soap and then followed by applying the extract with a cotton ball. The soap not only contains jewelweed but also Tea Tree oil (antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal), calendula to speed healing time of any cuts or scratches, and geranium to aid in the generation of new skin cells. We have found it to help with almost any skin condition. The plant can also be used fresh. It usually grows in the same area as poison ivy. How handy did God make that one?
